Lionel Messi earned a bragging right for Argentina over their South American rivals Brazil as he scored one on his first appearance after ban in Saudi Arabia.
Messi was playing for the Argentinians for the first time after serving a three months ban, converted the rebound after his penalty was saved by Alisson Becker in the friendly, but later scored his 69th international goal.
Gabriel Jesus had earlier missed a penalty for Brazil who handed a late debut to Aston Villa striker Wesley and also failed to win in the five matches since their victory at the Copa America tournament.
Neymar was absent from the game still on the hit-down that he grabbed while playing Brazil vs Nigeria friendlies.
Argentina will next play Uruguay in Tel Aviv on Monday (19:15 GMT) but the match will most likely not hold considering reports of fight going on in Israel.
Then Brazil will face South Korea in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday (13:30 GMT), their last match before their 2022 World Cup qualifier game starts in March 2020.
