Liverpool Sadio Mane’s late goal was a saving grace, as they moved from behind to down Aston Villa in an injury time victory to secure their six point lead at the Premier League table.
With Liverpool’s 10-month extended non-defeat league history that is about to end, the Reds fought harder to conjure a stellar finish, which started when Andy Robertson came at the back post to head them level.
Sadio Mane then proceeded with a brilliant stunt, conjuring a header from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner past Tom Heaton and into the far corner of the net to secure the victory which glued Liverpool’s six point at the top of the league to a point.
Aston Villa lost to Liverpool was more devastating after they led from the 21st minute goal by summer-signing Trezeguet. The goal which was a lovely finish from John McGinn’s free-kick, is Trezeguet’s first goal for the club since he arrived.
Villa played excellently well at the first half, holding the Champions League title holders down from displaying their talent throughout the first-half until the last moment of the second half when Liverpool Sadio Mane’s move against a draw result was achieved.
The Reds victory against Villa on Saturday means they held firm their lead point over second-placed Man City, who launched their own comeback to beat Southampton and visit Anfield for a mouth-watering top-of-the-table battle next Sunday.
Aston Villa lost to Liverpool means they have now lost back-to-back matches to the league’s giants, bringing them to the 16th place, just three points above the relegation territory.
