2 Nigerian Nationals Arrested In Major Drug Bust

In a successful operation, members of the Anti-Economic Crimes Task Team have arrested two Nigerian nationals for allegedly dealing in drugs.

The operation, based on intelligence-driven information, resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of over R900,000 from the Nigerian smugglers.

Delft Drug Facility Raided, 5.3 kg of Methamphetamine Seized

On Tuesday, 16 April 2025, the Anti-Economic Crimes Task Team executed an intelligence-driven raid on a premises suspected of being a drug production facility in Delft, Cape Town.

Upon entering the facility, police discovered a large quantity of methamphetamine, weighing 5.3 kg, with an estimated street value of R795,000.

A 43-year-old Nigerian national was arrested on charges of dealing in drugs and for breaching the Immigration Act.

The suspect, a Nigerian is expected to face serious charges following the discovery of the illicit drugs.

Second Bust in Bellville Nets Another Arrest

Following the success of the Delft operation, police continued their investigation and traced another drug-related premises in Bellville.

A subsequent search led to the recovery of methamphetamine valued at approximately R135,000.

A 40-year-old Nigerian woman was arrested at the Bellville location for dealing in drugs and breaching the Immigration Act, adding to the growing list of drug-related arrests in the area.

Suspects To Appear In Court For Drug Charges

Both suspects are currently in police custody, and once charged, they are expected to make their respective court appearances at the Bellville Magistrates’ Court.

The police have vowed to continue cracking down on drug trafficking and associated crimes in Cape Town, particularly in areas with known drug production facilities.
