Two Murder Cases Under Investigation In Limpopo’s Capricorn And Mopani Districts

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo has opened investigations into two separate murder cases reported in the Capricorn and Mopani districts on Saturday, 21 February 2026.

In the Capricorn District, members attached to SAPS Matlala were called out to Madietane Village following reports of a body lying in the street.

It is alleged that one of the community members informed the police about a naked body of a male lying on the ground. Upon arrival, officers found an unknown man, believed to be about 35 years old, lying in the street with severe injuries.

Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the scene and certified the victim dead.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear and investigations are ongoing. The identity of the deceased has not yet been established.

Second Murder Investigation Launched After Fatal Stabbing In Mokgolobotho, Mopani District

Meanwhile, in the Mopani District, members of Ritavi SAPS are investigating a separate murder reported at Mokgolobotho Village along the main road next to a spaza shop at approximately 21:49 on the same evening.

Police responded to a complaint and found the deceased lying next to the road. Officers discovered a deep stab wound to the upper body, allegedly inflicted with an unknown sharp object.

Emergency Medical Services personnel certified the victim dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased is currently being withheld pending further investigation.

The motive for both incidents remains unknown, and no arrests have been made at this stage.
