Two Men Arrested For Assaulting Female Police Officer In Kimberley CBD | WATCH VIDEO

A disturbing video has sparked outrage online after showing a female police officer being assaulted while on duty in the Kimberley CBD. The incident, which took place on Monday, led to the immediate arrest of two men at the scene.
In the viral footage, one of the suspects can be seen attacking the officer and pulling off her weave as she tried to carry out her duties. Members of the public were seen attempting to assist before another police vehicle arrived to provide backup.
Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Mashay Gamieldien confirmed the arrests and described the incident as a serious act of violence against law enforcement.
SAPS Condemns Violence Against Officers
Gamieldien said the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, had strongly condemned the assault.
“In the video that has gone viral, a man can be seen attacking the female member who was conducting her duties,” said Gamieldien.
She added that the suspects were apprehended on the spot by other SAPS members from the same crime prevention team. They are now facing multiple charges, including assaulting a police official, resisting arrest, defeating the ends of justice, and malicious damage to property.

Gamieldien confirmed that the female officer sustained minor injuries and has since received medical treatment. She is also undergoing counselling and debriefing provided by professionals from the SAPS Employee Health and Wellness (EHW) unit.
Lieutenant General Otola reaffirmed that the SAPS would not tolerate violence against its officers.
“No one is above the law. Those who attack our officers will face the full might of the law. An attack on police officials is a direct attack on the state,” she said.
The suspects are expected to appear in court soon as investigations continue.
