Two Men Arrested After Viral Dashcam Armed Robbery Of E-Hailing Driver In Parkwood

Two men have been arrested after a dashcam video showing an e-hailing driver being robbed at gunpoint in Parkwood spread rapidly across social media, prompting widespread public reaction.

The footage captures a harrowing incident in which an unsuspecting driver is targeted while transporting two passengers. The clip shows one man seated in the front engaging the driver in casual conversation, while another sits quietly in the back.

At first, the exchange appears routine, with the front passenger asking the driver’s name and commenting on the music playing. Moments later, the situation takes a sudden turn when the front passenger signals to his accomplice, who pulls out a firearm and presses it against the driver’s neck.

The suspects proceed to rob the driver of his cellphone and cash, issuing threats to shoot him if he fails to comply. The visibly shaken driver can be heard pleading, assuring the men that he has handed over everything in his possession.

The video concludes with the suspects exiting the vehicle and instructing the driver to leave the area immediately.

Following its circulation online, the clip triggered strong reactions, with many viewers describing the ordeal as deeply traumatising. Others expressed relief that the driver survived the incident without physical harm.

Police Confirm Arrest Of Two Suspects Linked To E-Hailing Robbery

On Tuesday evening, police confirmed a breakthrough in the case. Western Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said two suspects, aged 20 and 28, were arrested on 28 April 2026 in connection with the robbery.

“They will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court once they have been formally charged,” Twigg said.

In a separate video also circulating online, the same suspects are allegedly seen being assaulted by members of the community. Reports indicate that residents mobilised in an effort to locate the men following the robbery.
