Two Gang Members Fatally Shot In Bonteheuwel Amid Rival Gang Violence

Two known gang members were gunned down in Bonteheuwel on Thursday night, reigniting fears of renewed violence in the community.
Ward councillor Angus McKenzie confirmed that the fatal shooting is linked to the ongoing turf war between the Hard Livings and Dixie Boys gangs.
Community Safety Under Threat
McKenzie noted that the area had enjoyed a period of calm in recent weeks, but Thursday’s killings threaten to destabilise the community again.
“The area where the shooting took place had been extremely quiet over the past few weeks, but Thursday’s murders threaten to once again reignite violence and chaos in the community,” McKenzie said.

“In response, we have immediately deployed our permanently-stationed metro police offices, law enforcement and the South African Police Services to stabilise the situation.
“At this stage, we can confirm that the murders were gang-related and that they were carried out by a rival gang,” McKenzie explained.
