2 Fatal Shooting Incidents Rock KwaZulu-Natal In Daylight Robbery  Incident

A man in his late twenties was shot and killed on Kenilworth Road in Sydenham, KwaZulu-Natal, during an alleged robbery attempt on Wednesday.

ALS Paramedics responded swiftly to multiple calls for medical assistance after a fatal shooting and found the man in an open field with gunshot wounds to his chest.

Despite their immediate efforts, the man was declared dead at the scene of the fatal shooting.

“It is alleged that the patient had tried to rob a pedestrian and when the pedestrian defended himself,” ALS Paramedics stated.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is currently investigating the incident to determine the full circumstances behind the fatal shooting.

Hijacking Attempt Turns Deadly

In a separate incident the same day, a 28-year-old man identified as Austin Mark Khan was shot and killed during an alleged hijacking attempt in Newlands West, KZN.

The incident took place near a local store around 6pm, drawing the rapid response of KZNVIP Protection Services after multiple reports of gunfire.

According to spokesperson Gareth Naidoo, four armed suspects in a white Toyota Etios attempted to hijack a vehicle.

During their escape, they opened fire, fatally wounding Khan.

“Despite the swift intervention of KZNVIP paramedics, the victim was found critically injured and unresponsive,” Naidoo said. “He was declared deceased at the scene.”

Caution

Residents are urged by the SAPS  to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.

This is as fresh concerns about public safety and the frequency of violent confrontations have increased during robbery and hijacking attempts in the province.
