Two Charged With Attempted Murder After Shooting At Robert Mugabe’s Johannesburg Home

Two men have been charged with attempted murder following a shooting at the Johannesburg residence of former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe.

A gardener was shot during the incident and remains in critical condition.

Gauteng police confirmed the arrests shortly after the suspects, aged 28 and 33, were taken in for questioning in connection with the shooting.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) said officers were alerted to the incident on Thursday by private security stationed at the high-walled property in Hyde Park, Johannesburg.

Upon arrival, officers reportedly had to knock to gain access to the premises.

Authorities have launched a full investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police are working to establish how events unfolded and who may have been involved.

Missing Firearm Central to Mugabe Home Case

A key focus of the investigation is the firearm allegedly used in the attack, which has not yet been recovered.

Police are continuing their search for the weapon as part of efforts to strengthen the case against the accused.

The two suspects are expected to appear before the Alexandra Magistrate Court in the coming days.
