2 Arrested For N3 Highway Hijackings

A multidisciplinary team of law enforcement agencies has arrested two suspects linked to a spate of hijackings on the N3 Highway between Villiers and De Hoek Toll Gate.
The suspects, disguised as police officers, used a vehicle fitted with blue lights and sirens to pull over unsuspecting motorists before hijacking them.

High-Speed Chase And Shootout
The team, including SAPS Counter Intelligence Investigation, Gauteng TRT, SAPS Anti-Gang Unit, and other local agencies, operationalised intelligence information.
The suspects were caught in the act while hijacking a Toyota Land Cruiser.

A high-speed chase ensued, culminating in a shootout between the suspects and the police.

One suspect was shot and wounded, while the other were arrested without injury.
Weapons And Evidence Seized

During the operation, the police seized two unlicensed firearms, ammunition, a military-grade signal jammer, SAPS insignia, uniforms, and the suspects’ vehicle, which had false registration numbers and blue lights.
The suspects are believed to be linked to over 30 hijackings on the N3 Highway.
They will appear before the Balfour Magistrates’ Court on 20 March 2025.
