Two Armed Robbers Shot Dead, One Injured During Failed Home Invasion In Waterloo, KZN

Two armed robbers were shot dead and another was wounded during a failed home invasion in Waterloo, KwaZulu-Natal, on Sunday evening.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) confirmed that the shootout unfolded when four suspects tried to storm the home of an off-duty security officer on Thistle Road.

Faced with imminent danger, the officer opened fire, instantly killing two suspects and injuring a third. The wounded suspect fled towards Rabbit Road, where he was later intercepted by officers.

Police also recovered two firearms at the scene, while a fourth suspect managed to escape.

Injured Suspect Tried to Pretend as Victim

The injured suspect initially attempted to mislead authorities. He claimed to reaction officers that he was the victim of an armed robbery.

However, after further investigation, police established that he was one of the men involved in the failed home invasion. The suspect, who sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen, was immediately placed under arrest.

Authorities believe the suspects are part of a gang responsible for terrorizing residents in the Waterloo area. The South African Police Services (SAPS) are now intensifying their search for the fourth suspect, who remains at large.
